Six characters, three couples, navigating the confines of home. One partner makes an attempt at change – but nothing that leads to anything lasting. Why not attend or organise a study circle instead?

A spec ad for Arbetarnas Bildningsförbund (ABF), offering study circles for anyone who wants to promote learning and growth through the creative exchange of ideas.

6 ACTORS – 1 LOCATION – 8 HOURS

Made at Stockholm University of the Arts, this project emerged from limitations: 1 location, 8 hours, and 6 actors from the acting department. I set out to showcase "ad length" storytelling and my treatment emphasised story and a comedic doll-house framing – drawing inspiration from the simplicity of comic strips.

CONCEPT

Utilizing locked-off shots, subdued low-key lighting, and slow zooms, “What’s on TV?” aims to magnify the confinement of everyday existence. Despite yearning for change, the couples remain in a routine. Clumsy attempts at transformation yielding nothing new.

CAST

Three distinctive couples of spanning ages and lifestyles, from the conventional to the avant-garde. In performance we emphasized stillness, timing, and simplicity of blocking to capture the essence of the interaction.
